For parents
You are part of this too — and you are not on your own
Therapy happens in our sessions. Change happens in your home. This page is about the second part: what you can do, what we share, and how to stay connected between visits.
Why parents matter here
You know your child better than any therapist ever will. Our job is to add what we know to what you know — and to give you simple, honest things to do at home that fit your real life. Not homework that adds pressure. Small practices that add up.
Parents who stay engaged — who watch a session, ask questions, and carry the work home — are the ones whose children move fastest. That isn’t a lecture; it’s what twelve years has shown us.
Home carryover — what it means
“Carryover” is our word for taking the work home. After sessions, your therapist shows you what to practise and how — the exact game, the exact words, the exact moment to use them. You do not need to become a therapist. You need to become your child’s best practice partner, a few minutes a day.
Some of that lives on a home-activity platform our therapists use, and some of it is simply coaching in the room with you. Either way, it’s built to fit real life.
Parent coaching
Sometimes the most useful work is with you — learning how to slow down your speech, how to wait for your child’s word, how to praise the effort, how to read the frustration before the meltdown.
This coaching is woven into your child’s therapy rather than sold as a separate standard add-on, and where a named programme fits, we’ll use it: the Hanen Centre’s More Than Words for younger children, TalkAbility for older children and their parents, and our own in-house modules, in development. Some families grow into a programme; others get what they need inside ordinary sessions. Ask what fits yours.
The WhatsApp channel
Between visits, we stay in touch through a parents’ channel: short, practical posts. What it is not: gossip, forwards, or noise. What it is: ideas you can use, gentle reminders, and news from the centre.
Families join at their centre by invitation. Your number stays private — members cannot see each other’s contact details — and you can leave any time. There’s no fixed schedule; we post when there’s something worth reading.
Ask us to add you at either centre, or read the answer in the FAQ.
What parents say helps most
Ask families who have been with us a while, and the same things come up.
- Meeting other parents who are walking the same road — in our waiting room, and in the channel.
- Watching a session, and finally understanding what the therapist is doing and why.
- A written progress summary at each review — something to read again on hard days, and see progress against.
We will share more of this as we build our resources for parents. Testimonials and parent stories will only ever appear with a family’s written consent.
A note on stories
You may meet us one day on this page telling a family’s story. We will only ever do that with that family’s written consent, with names and details handled respectfully. Your child’s story belongs to your child — never to our marketing.
Coming soon — resources for parents
We are building a small library of honest, useful guides for parents: what to expect at a first visit, how to talk more at home, routines that build attention, and how to work with your child’s school. They will live here as they are ready.
If there is a question you wish this page answered, ask us — the question itself tells us what to write next.
You are not on your own with this
Call +91 70225 30530 during working hours, or write to us. Ask about the parents’ channel at your centre — and tell us what you wish this page answered.
