What Wavelength is
By the school years, needs rarely come one at a time. A child may need speech help, help with social communication, and help managing big feelings — three appointments, three days, and a family out of evenings.
Wavelength is Cornerstone’s answer: a speech-led group programme for social communication, built so children practise, with trained adults and structure around them, what one-to-one sessions can’t reach — joining in, taking turns, reading a room, handling winning and losing. It’s a group, not one-to-one, and it runs on a structured pathway rather than a loose series of activities.
The four-stage pathway
Wavelength moves children through four named stages. The important part: children move by readiness, not by birthday. A seven-year-old and a five-year-old can be working on the same thing — what matters is the skills they’re ready for, not the number on the register.

roughly 1–3 years — The foundations of shared attention and interaction.

Engage
roughly 3–5 years — Back-and-forth, play with others, early social give-and-take.

Converse
roughly 5–7 years — Conversation, negotiation, the social rules of a classroom.

Navigate
roughly 8–13 years — The more complex social world of older children. This stage is still being developed — coming soon.
The real story: accountability, not activities
Most group programmes sound the same. Wavelength’s difference is that it holds itself to measurement — and says so out loud.

A twelve-week honesty checkpoint
A clear, evidence-based call on whether the stage is working. If it isn’t, we say so, rather than keeping your child (and your money) in indefinitely.
That last point is the whole idea: we show you.
How it runs
- Group therapy, not one-to-one.
- Speech-led — run by two to three speech-language pathologists per stage.
- A regulation and sensory support role on the team supports the speech-led session; it is not a separate occupational-therapy programme.
- A monthly group programme, with measured reviews along the way.

School-age children who need structured social-communication support — and whose parents want one well-measured programme rather than a patchwork of appointments. Enquiries start with a conversation, not a form. We’ll talk about your child, and if Wavelength looks right, the entry assessment comes next.
Because Wavelength hasn’t launched yet, this is an enquiry, not a booking. We’ll be honest with you about timing, and if another service fits your child sooner, we’ll point you there without selling.

Does Wavelength replace individual therapy?
Sometimes yes, sometimes it sits alongside. The entry assessment decides — not our schedule.
How much will it cost?
Wavelength is a monthly group programme, so its fees differ from single sessions. We’ll publish the figure when it’s confirmed and give it to you plainly before you commit to anything. Note that Wavelength has no compensatory sessions for missed ones.
What happens in a typical session?
Group work on social communication, run by speech-language pathologists, with support for regulation where a child needs it. Ask us on the phone and we’ll walk you through the real structure, not a brochure version.
